Laboratory admin Assistant

Watford, (There is no parking for cars on site)

 

Hours of Work: 08.30 – 17.00 with 30 minutes for lunch, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

 

Highly respected analytical chemistry laboratory specialising in the chemical analysis of construction materials such as concretes, mortars, screeds, renders and aggregates.

The current requirement is for a full time,  (maternity cover), Laboratory Admin Assistant to join our busy laboratory in Watford.

The Laboratory Admin Assistant will be responsible for the day to day administration in the laboratory.

The role would suit someone with strong administrative experience and scientific interest and/or technical background in Chemistry or a related area.

Responsibilities: Booking in samples into the Sample Register (MS Excel), and sorting them into boxes ready for preparation.

Contacting clients when there is a query on the order. Ordering supplies e.g. office consumables, chemicals and equipment.

Preparing invoices and liaising with the Group Company Financial Controller.

Sending invoices to Clients. Chasing for payment as necessary.

Drafting and checking reports.

Filing. Laboratory testing, when needed.

The candidate will be trained internally in test procedures.

Following health and safety procedures.

Essential skills: Previous relevant experience in a similar role.

Excellent attention to detail. Ability to advise the team in order to meet client deadlines.

Excellent communicator. Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.

MS Word and MS Excel

Preferred skills: A scientific background, and an interest in Chemistry.
